External Gift

If the customer has an external device that they received from a gift card merchant for the purpose of using gift cards, then it is this device that is used for activating and monitoring gift cards and their balances. To record the sale of these gift cards, the customer needs to add a menu item that is tax exempt that will prompt the customer to enter a price. They should also set up a dedicated sales group for this item so it can separate the gift card sale in the sales reports. When an end customer is paying with one of these gift cards, the “Ext. Gift” payment option is used.
